The Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) is a professional degree program that provides in-depth knowledge of the legal system, justice delivery and law in practice. The course is offered in two formats; a 3-year LL.B. program for students who have already completed graduation in any discipline and a 5-year integrated LL.B. program (such as B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., or B.Com. LL.B.) for students who wish to pursue law immediately after completing their 10+2 education. The curriculum of the LL.B. program is designed to balance theoretical learning with practical exposure. It covers a wide range of core subjects including Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Contract Law, Family Law, Property Law, Torts, Administrative Law, Labour Law and Company Law, along with procedural laws like the Civil Procedure Code, Criminal Procedure Code and the Evidence Act. In addition, students are introduced to emerging areas of law such as Intellectual Property Rights, Cyber Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law and Alternative Dispute Resolution. To strengthen practical skills, the course includes moot courts, legal aid clinics, drafting and pleading exercises, internships with law firms, advocates, corporate houses, NGOs and government institutions.
The LL.B. program not only imparts academic knowledge but also trains students in essential skills such as legal research, drafting, critical thinking, advocacy, negotiation and effective communication, while also emphasizing ethics and professional responsibility. Career opportunities after completing LL.B. are vast and diverse, ranging from practicing as an advocate in courts to serving as judges through judicial services examinations, working as legal advisors in corporate sectors and public institutions, joining government services, contributing to NGOs and international organizations, or pursuing higher studies and academic careers in law. Beyond professional avenues, the LL.B. program nurtures a sense of justice, responsibility and commitment to society, enabling graduates to contribute meaningfully to nation-building and the strengthening of the rule of law.
